Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles report 05.07.18

The Midlands Mtb Series Round 4 was held at Rother Valley and Presented by Rother Valley Riders. Daniel Ward of Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles, raced hard in the Under 10 category and was rewarded with a podium finish in third place just behind the winner Jacob Steed of Bolsover & District Cycling Club.

At the same event Christian Aucote finished in ninth place in the Expert mens category, Andrew Douglas of Velo Viewer took the win.

In Round 3 of the ‘Run & Ride’ Summer classic’ event held at Cannock Chase Under 10 rider Daniel Ward pitched in with the Under 13 riders but was not overawed, he rode skilfully and strongly to take a great second place on one of his favourite courses.

Mercia CC-Lloyds CC young riders were again in action at Mallory Park for round 11 of the Youth League. This week’s racing comprised of a Sprint and a Scratch race. In the Under 10 category, Daniel Ward placed 2^nd in the Sprint and 3^rd in the Scratch race whilst Sam Parker was 4^th in both events, results which keep them both well up the series leader board. Winner of both events was George Cooper of Sherwood Pines Cycles.

The Mercia Club held two Time Trials recently on the Anslow course. Fast times were recorded with Ashley Hurdman of Team Bottrill again consistently close to his own course record with a time of 22:40. Other times were Jason Seabridge 23:59, Sam Coxen 24:07, Anthony Harper 24:16, Ben Startin 25:20, Pascal Arnoux 25:51, Jeff Slinn 26:55, Keith Staley 26:56, Phil & Zak Machin (2 up) 27:24, Bailey Waters 27:44, Tony Marlow 29:05, Nick Chapman 30:43, John Brewin 31:03, Adrian Waters 32:12 and at one lap David Peters 19:32.

The second event on the Anslow course saw slower times but close competition non the less. Anthony Harper of Derby Mercury recorded the fastest time of 25:07, Pascal Arnoux Zepnat 26:11, Rob Gower 26:14, Phil & Zak Mchin (2 up) 27:22, Keith Staley 26:44, Steve Herriman 27:43, Dave Baines 30:58, John Brewin 31:02, Adrian Waters 31:49, Graham Dingley 32:19, Steve Ingram 33:49 and at one lap David Peters 18:59.
