Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles report 05.12.19.
Round 9 of the Notts Derby Cyclo Cross League was held at Moorways Leisure Centre, Derby. The event hosted by Derby Mercury is a regular venue for rounds of the National series and made a good change for a lot of the riders. After weeks of rain affected courses Saturday dawned on the coldest day of the year so far the riders having to stay well wrapped up until the starting gun.
Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles under 12 riders Daniel Ward and Sam Parker were on good form with both riders adapting well to the icy conditions and both riding to their best Notts Derby finishing placing of the season. Ward rode a terrific race finishing in second place very close behind the winner, Fraser Cummins of Matlock CC. Parker followed up his disappointment of the previous race with an accomplished ride in 9th place.
Once again Julie Tipper the V50 Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles rider, excelled riding well when finishing in 2nd place behind Marianne Heffron of Zepnat RT-Lazer Helmets a rider she has beaten previously this season and looks to be here main rival for the Championship.
In the mens Veteran classes, Pascal Arnoux of Zepnat RT-Lazer Helmets competed in the V50 class finishing in 8th place behind the winner, Pete Middleton of the same team.
