Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles report 15.01.20
Daniel Ward, Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles Under 12 rider has been busy in numerous Cyclo Cross races with very consistent riding. The sustained very wet weather has meant that all of the courses are very hard going throughout and with long sections of strength sapping mud.
Taking place at the East Midlands Cyclo Cross Championship event the Under 12 race is a none Championship event but is very keenly contested by the youngsters. Ward had his usual full on ride and finished in 5th place behind the surprise winner Arthur Limb of Matlock CC.
Ward followed up with 8th, 6th & 3rd places at rounds of the West Midlands, Notts Derby & Leicester Cyclo Cross Leagues. George Cooper of Sherwood Pines – Cycles Forme took the win at the first two events and Evander Wishart of Fenland Clarion CC the winner at Heather in the Leicester league.
At Mansfield for Round 11 of the Notts Derby League Ward was joined by club mate Sam Parker. The new venue proved to be very popular with 50+ riders in the Under 12 category. Both riders rode well with Ward winning the club honours in 6th place and Parker in 16th. George Cooper of Sherwood Pines – Cycles Forme again the winner.
At the same event Pascal Arnoux of Zepnat RT-Lazer Helmets was 10th in the Veteran 50-59 category and Mercia’s Julie Tipper V50-59 lady continued her fine season with an excellent 3rd place behind former World Champion, Tracey Fletcher of Magspeed Racing.
Ward left his best recent result until the last event when taking a well earned 2nd place in a very hard race in the Leicester League at Mallory Park close behind the winner George Cooper
