Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles Report 25.07.19
Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles report 25.07.19.
Sheffield City centre was the venue for Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles Under14 Youth rider Zak Machin when he rode in the prestigious last round of the National Circuit races. The fast paced criterium racing is exciting for both riders and spectators alike. As a support race for the Senior riders these events provide a fantastic experience for the young riders who thrill the large crowds as much as the more well known Seniors. Machin relishes the tight racing as much as the longer road races and was determined throughout to gain a podium placing. The race was fast and very competitive with no one giving anything away. With a short distance to go Machin momentarily dropped his chain when changing gear and it was enough to stop him taking first place. He had to settle for 2nd place but what a great result for a young rider who is really shining this season
It was very hot & humid weather for the riders taking part in the Mercia evening 10mile TT on the Anslow course. The fastest time was Mercia’s Erik Woronovich 25:10 who has had a very consistent season. Other riders times, all Mercia CC- Lloyds Cycles were Rob Gower 25:48. Jeff Slinn 26:23, (3rd on handicap). Liam Mewis 27:07 (under 16 youth, 1st on handicap). Keith Staley 27:33. Tony Marlow 28:12. Paul Burrows 30:53. Adrian Waters 31:32 (2nd on handicap).
