Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles report 26.06.19.
Zak Machin of Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles continued his fine season with another round of the National Youth Circuit series. Taking part in the Under 14 category the race was held in Minehead Somerset around a predominantly tight street circuit where the riders needed good positional riding to avoid accidents. Unlike in most other rounds the young Machin missed an early break of three riders and like the rest of the large number of entrants was unable to close the gap. Undeterred he continued to race hard and crossed the finishing line in 7th place for yet another fine top ten placing. The result takes him into 10th place in the series. Alex Franks of Hillingdon Slipstreamers took the win.
Machin continued his assault on the Mallory Park Youth Road Race League when he won in fine style to increase his lead at the top of the leader board. The standard of this Under14 class means that all points are vital and it is still wide open as to who will be the Champion at the end of the season.
The Mercia CC-Lloyds Cycles Time Trial season has been blighted by inclement weather and road works causing several events to be cancelled on the Anslow circuit.
