The Les Lowe Memorial Trophies – new for 2017

In memory of the late Les Lowe there are to be two new trophies awarded to Mercia members from 2017 annually.

Les was a long distance time trialist and record breaker. In his memory there are to be two new trophies.

One will be awarded to the member who cover the highest mileage in any 24 hour period during the year. The obvious way to  try for this would be to enter a 24 hour time trial! Les was a regular entrant to the 24 hour test of truth. The entry does not have to be a time trial, it can be consecutive days touring etc.

The second trophy is to be awarded to the member who covers the highest mileage in the whole year.

Members who use Strava etc. will be able to verify their mileages easily but members who use mileometers or offline bike computers will also be eligible to compete.

However, if a member is not using a Strava type system but relying on self declared mileages the committee has decided that any such member is required to declare his/her mileage monthly throughout the year.
